Where should the leg be

Yesterday during a class a friend asked me what I think where her left leg should be - here or there? And what about the right one? She first moved her foot left, then right… then forward, then backward again. She was moving her feet all over the place for a minute there when I finally realised she was just showing off her new dancing shoes.
